The Holy Bible plays a vital role in the development of any believer. It is the inspired Word of God, and as Hebrews 4:12 says "The Word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intensions of the heart"(NASB). We are instructed in chapter 1 verse 21 of James "Therefore putting aside all filthiness and all that remains of wickedness, in humility receive the word implanted, which is able to save your souls" (NASB).
